Layer It! enables the user to assign page elements to special groups (layers) that can be hidden or displayed with a click of the mouse button. Layer It! can also temporarily hide the elements (on layers) that slow work down. The more page elements added to a QuarkXPress page, the more layers added to a document. After a while, identifying which element is layered above or below the other becomes nearly impossible. The screen also becomes cluttered with boxes and lines, slowing screen redraw. Layer It! helps overcome these problems so work is more efficient.Additionally, the Layer It! palette provides more control over the layers in a document. Arrow buttons move items upward or downward in a document, selecting the item that constitutes that layer. Other buttons provide quick access to the bring to front, send to back, send backward, and bring forward functions. Indicators show the layer number of currently selected items and a total number of layers in the current page.Click the Resources tab above for related articles and other information on this topic.
